His Holiness Pope Pius IX., by a Rescript of the Sacred
Congregation of Propaganda, dated April 26, 1857, granted -
i. The indulgence of 100 days, to be gained by the faithful as often as, saying
three Ave Maria's, they shall assist the Holy Missions of the Catholic
Church, either by contributing their offerings or giving their own help to this object, or
even exhorting others to do so.
ii. The plenary indulgence, to be gained three times a year by the aforesaid
benefactors (that is to say, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, on the Feast
of St. Joseph, and on the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, or some one day in the Octaves of
these Feasts), provided that, having Confessed and (Communicated, they shall
pray according to the mind of his Holiness.
His Holiness Pope Pius IX., by a Rescript of May 9, 1850,
vouchsafed to grant -
300 days indulgence to every one who prays for the conversion of England.
Moreover, by a Rescript of Nov. 16, 1851, he extended this indulgence to all
those who are associated together to pray for the conversion of all those who
are estranged from the Holy Catholic Church; and he further granted -
100 days indulgence: for every pious work done in favour of this association.
